UNESCO Chairs will be opened at once in two higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan within the framework of bilateral agreements signed on Thursday in Ashgabat. The paperwork ceremony was held at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, on which website a press release of the meeting was published.
Today, the network of UNESCO Chairs UNITWIN unites similar chairs of higher educational institutions of 117 countries and gives them the opportunity to develop multilateral cooperation in the field of science and education, as well as to share national experience on an international scale.
The meeting was attended by heads and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, representatives of UNESCO and the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, as well as Turkmen diplomats and rectors of the country's universities.
According to the signed documents, UNESCO chairs will be established at the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Seidi. At TSU, the chair will be called "Cultural Heritage: From the Past to the Future", and at TSPI - "Environmental Education for Sustainable Development".
It should be noted that in the fall of last year, the UNESCO Club "World Culture" was opened at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. And a little earlier, the first in Turkmenistan UNESCO Club "Languages of the World" was created at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Azadi.
