One more humanitarian cargo was sent from Turkmenistan to Turkey, which suffered from powerful earthquakes, Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Togan Oral said on his Twitter account.
10 electric power generators and 1,500 warm blankets collected the day before as part of a charity event in Ashgabat will be transported to the republic. The cargo is transported by Turkish airlines.
The diplomat thanked ordinary citizens of Turkmenistan, the National Center of Trade Unions, the Union of Women and employees of Turkish companies who work in the country for their help in collecting humanitarian cargo.
Blankets and generators will be sent to the affected areas of Turkey and evacuation points where cold weather has set in, the Turkish ambassador to Turkmenistan said earlier at a rally to collect humanitarian aid.
Devastating earthquakes in the south-east of Turkey occurred on the morning of February 6. The World Health Organization has recognized them as the catastrophe of the century in Europe. According to reports, the disaster claimed the lives of more than 36 thousand people in Turkey and neighboring Syria. 26 million people in both countries need humanitarian assistance, the WHO said.
