Turkmen specialists got acquainted with the specifics of informing about risks and involving the community in the response process, as well as creating feedback mechanisms during health emergencies. This is stated in the press release of the UNICEF representative office in Turkmenistan.

The course aims to strengthen the capacity of national trainers to develop and disseminate messages to the public about risks and preventive measures to increase the resilience of communities to future disasters.

"The global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on human life, presenting an unprecedented challenge not only to public health, but also to the social and economic aspects of life around the world. UNICEF and its key partners immediately gave priority to adapting the strategic approach to effective interaction and communication with the public during health emergencies," UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Mohammad Fayazi said in his address.

The three-day training was organized by the UNICEF representative office in Turkmenistan jointly with the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and Drexel University of Philadelphia (USA) in a hybrid format. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, public organizations, as well as international experts from the Drexel University School of Public Health.

In the future, the trainers will conduct similar training courses for relevant specialists throughout Turkmenistan.
