Kazakhstan has updated the rules for obtaining a residence permit for foreign citizens

Kazakhstan has updated the rules for issuing a permanent residence permit for foreign citizens, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The innovation obliges foreigners to confirm the address of residence in the country and to have a passport as a document certifying the identity of a foreign citizen and confirming his legal status. The validity period of the passport must be at least 180 calendar days at the time of filing an application for permanent residence.
To obtain a temporary residence permit, the personal presence of the owner of the dwelling, a person acting on his behalf by proxy or a notarized consent of the owner is also required. According to the changes, the address indicated when issuing a permit must have a registration code.
Citizens of states with which Kazakhstan has relevant migration agreements can enter, leave, transit, as well as move and temporarily stay in the republic according to internal documents.
According to the source, these measures were taken to exclude the possibility of registration of foreign citizens to non-existent addresses, as well as to addresses unrelated to the applicant.
