Search and rescue operations after earthquakes in Turkey continue


Search and rescue operations are continuing on the territory of Turkey in the regions affected by strong earthquakes. A summary with up-to-date information was provided to ORIENT by the Turkish Embassy in Turkmenistan.
As a result of the disaster on the territory of the republic, the death toll amounted to 6,957 people, 38,224 were injured (as of the first half of the day on February 8). A total of 5,775 buildings collapsed.
More than 96 thousand people are involved in search and rescue operations. There are also more than 5 thousand foreign rescuers and doctors in the affected provinces, including from Turkmenistan.
The Communications Department of the Republic of Turkey has launched a Disinformation Notification Service to identify false messages that may appear during the crisis.
