UNDP held a seminar on the occasion of the Violent Extremism Prevention Day

On the occasion of the International Violent Extremism Prevention Day (VEP Day), which is celebrated on February 12, UNDP held a seminar at the International University for the Humanities and Development on strengthening the resilience of young people to VEP by providing psychological support at the community level. This is reported in the press release of the organization.
The event is aimed at improving the potential of the teaching staff of the university in the field of preventing violent extremism. It provided a platform for discussing the role of social workers in providing psychosocial services to young people, stress management methods and mental health support.
The seminar was organized as part of the Country component of the global project "Strengthening resistance to violent extremism in Asia (STRIVE Asia). The EU-UN Joint Partnership", funded by the European Union with the participation of the Ashgabat Advisory Group, which was formed within the framework of this project.
Violent extremism is a challenge to the purposes and principles of the United Nations. In its resolution 77/243, the General Assembly decided to declare February 12 the International Violent Extremism Prevention Day in order to raise awareness of the threats associated with violent extremism and strengthen international cooperation in this field.
The General Assembly also highlighted the important role of intergovernmental organizations, civil society, academia and the media in addressing this issue. After all, no country or region is immune from its consequences.
