Turkmen sambo wrestler wins bronze medal at the Tournament for the Prizes of the President of Tatarstan


Muhriddin Bahadyrov, the sambo wrestler from Turkmenistan, won a bronze medal at the International Sambo Tournament for the Prizes of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan held in Kazan.
At 68 kg weight category, a 2nd year student of the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism confidently won over athletes from Latvia, Armenia and lost to Tagir Tagirov from Russia.
In total, athletes from 20 countries took part in the Cup Tournament – the pre-start tournament for the World Sambo Championships 2019 in Seoul.
Muhriddin is not only sambo wrestler, but also wrestler in other types of martial arts – judo and grappling. He won the silver medal at the Moscow Judo Championships, and the bronze medal at the Russian Youth Sambo Championships.
“The Russian Student Games, and the Sambo World Cup “A.Kharlampiev Memorial” are coming soon. We are getting prepared together with the coaches,” the sambo athlete says, noting that he is planning to win the Olympic gold medal.
“In sports, I always tried to follow my uncle’s example, Shohrat Muradov, the Judo Champion of Turkmenistan. He is my motivator,” Muhriddin noticed.
