The first inter-parliamentary forum of Central Asian states will be held on Friday in the Kazakh city of Turkestan. The parliamentarians of Kazakhstan, as well as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, whose delegations have already arrived in the country, will take part in its work. The Turkmen delegation is headed by Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Gurbanmurat Ashyrov, the press service of the Senate of Kazakhstan reports.
The deputies will discuss issues of strengthening strategic cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the role of parliaments in this process. It is expected that the forum participants will adopt the Turkestan Declaration on the further development of inter-parliamentary relations aimed at expanding economic cooperation and forming a single cultural and historical space of the Central Asian region.
The decision to hold the inter-parliamentary forum was made during the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States in July 2022.
