President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree approving a draft memorandum on Belarus' obligations to join the SCO. This is reported by BelTA with reference to the press service of the head of state.

Since 2010, Belarus has been a dialogue partner of the SCO, and since 2015 it has observer status at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Last year, work began on obtaining the status of a member State of the organization.

To formalize participation, it is necessary to sign and ratify the memorandum, as well as to join a number of documents that make up the legal framework of this integration association.
