The value of museums and museum values – restorers develop international relations

The State Museum of Turkmenistan gathered diplomats, scientists and cultural figures, students and journalists on its site on Tuesday. They were invited to a briefing on the topic "Restoration of museum values: world experience and achievements".
The event was attended by heads and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Embassies of the USA, China and India, the National Administration of Turkmenistan for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments, employees of the museums of the city of Ashgabat. This is reported on the website of the country's Foreign Ministry.

The audience was addressed by scientists and museum specialists who told about the activities currently being carried out in the country for the study and restoration of archaeological finds and monuments, the preservation and popularization of historical and cultural heritage, as well as the expansion of international relations and the exchange of experience in this field.
Museums – as an educational, cultural and social space – also change over time, master modern technologies and formats of work, including with the audience. And, of course, one of the important areas of their functioning is the support and development of contacts with foreign colleagues, including restorers.

Earlier, at the end of January, Turkmenistan was visited by specialists from the Getty American Museum (Los Angeles, California). The visit was organized as part of the joint work with the State Museum of Turkmenistan on the conservation and restoration of a unique artifact – the image of the Buddha's head, found in Ancient Merv and dated to the 5th century.
