UNFPA notes the progress of Turkmenistan in achieving the SDGs

A meeting devoted to the work of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) within the framework of the Action Plan of the Country Program for the period from 2016 to 2020 was held today in the Ashgabat Hotel Yildiz. The event was attended by UNFPA Executive Representative in Turkmenistan Bayramgul Garabayeva, country director of the organization Julia Valise, specialists of various ministries and departments of Turkmenistan. The meeting gave a detailed overview of the UNFPA programs implemented jointly with Turkmenistan. Examples of the abovementioned include the results of cooperation in the field of reproductive health of young people. Also, great progress was made in the implementation of the National Action Plan on Gender Equality. In particular, a monitoring and evaluation system for this Plan has been developed, which has made it possible to improve the efficiency of its work. As the speakers emphasized, progress in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN by Turkmenistan is also a great contribution to the improvement and development of the entire statistical system of the country, which had a positive impact on the implementation of the UNFPA program in the field of population data. UNFPA is the leading UN organization, whose mission is to ensure equal citizens' rights to a healthy life and equal opportunities for its preservation. The recommendations developed by this organization are aimed at improving reproductive health services and family planning, as well as supporting sustainable development efforts in the field of population.
