The founders of the famous Indian clothing brand Shades of India, David and Mandeep Housgo, presented the collections of their private collection consisting of ancient carpets and fabrics of the peoples of Central Asia from February 1 to 15 at the National Museum of Crafts in New Delhi.

Amazing fabrics of the XIX century, including unique Turkmen textiles, were able to impress visitors of the exhibition: in total, almost 40 samples of ancient craft were presented. This is reported by Artdaily.

A special place in the collection of carpets was occupied by a finely woven Turkmen carpet, whose analogue is kept in another famous museum — the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Turkmen carpet patterns, familiar to everyone, are visible on the ornaments that have been well preserved to this day.

"My love for fabrics began in Iran, where I collected ancient tribal carpets while working as a journalist," says David, who in his youth was an ardent fan of everything related to the ancient art of sewing and cutting.

The display of unique samples is not the first time. The first to appreciate the ancient textile art, which has become a rich heritage of the peoples of Central Asia, were the French, who visited the exhibition at the Louvre and the Institute of the Arab World in Paris.
