The Chinese province of Sichuan, located in the southwest of the country, introduces new rules for birth registration, China daily reports.

The rules will come into force on February 15 and will be valid for five years. As representatives of the Sichuan Health Commission comment, the new rules are a response to the government's optimized policy regarding population growth and are aimed at forming a high-quality and reliable system of childbearing and child care.

According to the innovations, all women, including those who gave birth to a child out of wedlock, will be able to register a child and receive benefits. From now on, all women will be able to count on medical care, cash payments, as well as a guaranteed place for a child at secondary school.

In 2022, the total population of the Celestial Empire amounted to 1.4118 billion people, having decreased for the first time in 60 years by 850 thousand people year-on-year.
