Saudi Arabia to host Asian Cup in 2027

Saudi Arabia will host the Asian Cup in 2027. This became known at the end of the Asian Football Confederation Congress in Manama (Bahrain).

Saudi Arabia has not hosted such a tournament before. The current tournament for the main Asian trophy will be held in Qatar, which will host the tournament for the third time. It had previously been held there in 1988 and 2011. Cup matches will be played at the stadiums of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The reigning Asian Cup champions are Qatar, who won the trophy in the UAE in 2019, beating Japan 3-1 in the final.
