Chairman of Turkmenistan's Parliament (Mejlis) Gulshat Mammedova invited deputies of the State Duma of Russia to become observers at the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country during a meeting with Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in Ashgabat, the website of the State Duma reports.

In response to the invitation, Volodin confirmed that the State Duma would send its representatives to Turkmenistan. The elections are scheduled to be held on March 26.

At the meeting in Ashgabat, the sides also discussed issues of further development of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. "When we talk about the parliamentary dimension, the main thing is to have a dialogue," Volodin said.

The Chairman of the State Duma also added that after a long break, it is important to enter into new formats of cooperation that will be as effective as possible to solve the tasks facing the two countries.

During the meeting, Volodin also invited Mammedova to visit Moscow.
