The foundation of the main mosque of Ahal was laid in the city of Arkadag
A solemn ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the main mosque of the Ahal region took place in the city of Arkadag, the official website of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, who also took part in the event, reports.
The total area of the mosque, where more than 15 thousand believers will be able to pray at the same time, will be 34.5 hectares. The economic society "Altyn" will be engaged in its construction.
"This is a great event not only for Turkmenistan, but also for the entire Islamic world. In addition to the mosque, a madrasah will be built here. It is very important. We must take care of our traditions and religion – without this we will have no future. Turkmenistan has built a very effective work in this direction," Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The event was also attended by ambassadors of Muslim countries accredited in Ashgabat, as well as members of the Turkmen parliament, heads of ministries and departments, heads of regions, representatives of culture and the media.
