Russia and China to launch joint production of electric buses
The Irkutsk Region Development Corporation project and the Chongqing representative office of CRRC Corporation together with Chongqing Mammoth Brand Management plan to create a common Russian—Chinese production of electric buses, Izvestia reports.
The agreement of intent on this project was signed during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2022. To date, the Chinese investor has not been disclosed. So far, the parties expect to implement the project by 2025.
"Within the framework of the project, it is planned to start with a large-node assembly of electric buses using technologies from Chinese manufacturers. In the future, a transition to deep localization of the production of electric vehicles and charging stations for electric vehicles should be carried out," the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development told Izvestia.
