Turkmenistan has become a co-founder of the Association for the Development of Hockey in Islamic Countries. The agreement on the establishment of the organization was signed by representatives of 13 participating countries of the first hockey tournament of Islamic countries in Kazan, the website of the Ministry of Sports of Tatarstan reported.

The founders of the association were the heads of hockey federations of Turkmenistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria, Oman, Bahrain, Iran, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, as well as the Republic of Tatarstan.

The goal of the organization is to develop hockey in the regions of Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Cooperation will allow countries to adopt the experience of Russian hockey, train players, coaches and referees and gain access to training methods for young hockey players.

Nail Maganov, President of the Tatarstan Hockey Federation, Ak Bars Hockey Club and Head of Tatneft, became the head of the international Association. The head of the Kyrgyz Hockey Federation Anvar Omorkanov was elected Vice-president in the Asian region, and the president of the UAE Winter Sports Federation Hamel Al–Kubeisi was elected in the Middle East. The headquarters of the Community will be located in Kazan.

"Considering our rich hockey traditions, we are glad that another sports ground has appeared in the capital of Tatarstan, which unites the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. I am sure that this tournament will give an impetus to the development of hockey in the countries of the Islamic world, will contribute to strengthening friendship between countries and peoples, will become another bright sports page in the history of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation," said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, speaking at the closing ceremony of the Games.

As previously reported, following the results of the tournament, the national team of Turkmenistan became bronze winner.
