Russia will promote Aurus cars in Turkmenistan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko, who is taking part in the Turkmen-Russian Business Forum, said in Ashgabat on Thursday.
"This morning, when we were driving here to the forum, we were overtaken by a large motorcade of Mercedes. I'm driving and I'm thinking, why do they drive Mercedes? Although Aurus is much better, fully import-substituted, produced in Russia, a country friendly to Turkmenistan. And he's much better. I am also for Aurus," Korobchenko said.
He promised, upon returning to Tatarstan, to talk with the management of the company that produces Aurus.
"We need to meet with the leadership of Turkmenistan and make an offer that cannot be refused. These will be our Aurus cars, both armored and conventional in the sedan class," Korobchenko said.
"The republic has now started producing new Aurus cars – "Commandant", the presentation of these jeeps will take place in Tatarstan on February 28," he added.
Aurus is the first Russian brand of luxury cars, whose line currently includes a limousine, sedan and SUV. The company's shareholders are FSUE NAMI (63.5%), the UAE Defense, Security and Development Fund. Aurus cars are manufactured at the factory in Yelabuga (Tatarstan).
