Record low temperatures were recorded in several other cities of Turkmenistan
The absolute record of the minimum temperature in the entire history of observations, which have been conducted since 1894, has been set in Turkmenabad. On Friday, the thermometer in the city dropped to -25.4 °, according to the publication "Meteojournal".
In Serhetabad at night the temperature dropped below -27°. This winter has become the second coldest in this city in the history of weather observations, surpassing the winters of 1969 and 2008. It was colder here only in 1905 — -33.8° frost.
In Ashgabat, the minimum temperature on Friday was -16.4°. This is also a record minimum temperature for the city.
Also in the zone of atypically severe frosts is a large part of the Mary region, part of the southern and central districts of the Lebap region and the southeast of Ahal.
