Global sales of electric vehicles increased significantly in 2022 due to the growing demand for them in China and Europe. Compared to last year, sales of fully electric cars jumped by 68% and amounted to 7.8 million units, Interfax reports, citing data from international analytical companies.

In Europe, the share of cars in total sales was 11%, and in China — 19%. Electric and hybrid cars accounted for 20.3% of car sales in the European market in 2022.

German carmaker Volkswagen reported that its sales decreased by 7% last year, but the demand for electric vehicles increased by 26%.
