The date of elections to the parliament and representative bodies of local self-government of Turkmenistan has been set


Elections of deputies of the Parliament and members of representative bodies of local self-government in Turkmenistan are scheduled for March 26. The relevant resolution of the Turkmen parliament was published today by the official Turkmen press.
At the elections it is planned to elect:
– deputies of the Mejlis (Parliament) of the seventh convocation,
– members of the regional, district and city halk maslahaty (people's councils) of the fifth convocation,
– members of the Gengesh (local self-government bodies) of the ninth convocation.
As ORIENT reported earlier, in Turkmenistan, it was proposed to restore the Halk Maslahaty as the highest representative body, and to make the parliament unicameral.
