In 2022, the volume of traffic between China and Europe reached a new milestone, despite the fact that it was probably one of the most volatile years in Eurasian transport. According to the data released by the Working Conference of China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. in early January, China-Europe trains made 16,000 trips in 2022 and delivered 1.6 million TEU.

According to the China National Railway, these figures indicate traffic growth of 9% and 10%, respectively, compared to 2021.

China's easing of Covid-19 policy could further boost Silk Road traffic in 2023.

This will also be facilitated by the introduction of a paperless corridor, when trains no longer need to stop to go through customs procedures. Kazakhstan has already taken the first steps towards this. Soon the new software system will be tested on the borders of the country.

Networks Energy, the leading IT company in Kazakhstan in the field of rail logistics, is developing an online freight forwarding platform ASU DKR, which now covers 95% of all rail traffic in the country.

The entire forwarding process is already carried out in a paperless format. According to the CEO of the company, by the end of 2022, full integration with Russian Railways was completed. They also completed a significant part of the electronic document exchange in international transport with China. The countries of the region were also involved in the process.

According to experts, an intelligent system for optimizing the distribution of railway cargo and transportation planning will increase their efficiency. Customs declaration software has also been developed to replace physical customs procedures. All information will be provided digitally, processed using recognition technologies and eventually shared with interested partners.

The railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy approached ASA Technologies with a request to develop such software. The customs supported the project, now only government approval remains, after which testing of the system will begin.
