Tropical bananas began to be grown in the Akhal region

The exotic banana has "taken root" in Turkmenistan and is now grown here by more than one farm. The company "Hemsaýa" has broken up a banana plantation in the Akhal region – a tropical fruit grows in a greenhouse that covers an area of 5 hectares, the publication "Rysgal" reports.
The greenhouse complex has created favorable climatic conditions necessary for the successful adaptation of a thermophilic plant. Modern equipment for automated regulation of air temperature and humidity is installed here, and water-saving methods are used for irrigation of agricultural crops.
The farm grows bananas of the Cavendish variety. Planted trees begin to bear fruit in eight to nine months and each plant grows one bunch, in which about 250-300 bananas. The company plans to harvest about 100 tons of crops annually.
Mary region is considered to be the first Turkmen "homeland" of bananas, where the private enterprise "Ferhar" is engaged in banana cultivation. Now another tropical fruit is growing in this banana oasis - papaya.
