Turkmen hockey players will take part in the first international Games of the Islamic Commonwealth
From January 13 to 18, an international ice hockey tournament among Islamic countries of the world will be held in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. The decision to hold the competition was made within the framework of the international summit "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022".
More than 300 hockey players from 14 Islamic states, including athletes from Turkmenistan, will take part in the tournament. During the tournament, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan will be visited by the presidents of national federations of a number of states.
20 hockey players will go to defend the colors of the national flag under the leadership of the head coach of the national team Bayram Allayarov.
For them, such a championship will be a kind of preparation for participation in the World Ice Hockey Championship in the third division, which will be held from April 17 to 23, 2023.
At the last World Championship in Group A of the third division, the Turkmenistan national ice hockey team took third place.
