Uzbekistan has extended the agreement on the supply of electricity to Afghanistan for another year. This became known following the results of the working trip of the Acting Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Afghanistan Abdal Latif Mansour to Tashkent, TOLO News reports.

"We have signed and extended an agreement on the import of electricity in 2023," the minister told reporters.

As part of the negotiation process, it was pointed out that there was insufficient power supply to Kabul and some Afghan provinces due to technical problems at power plants in Uzbekistan. According to the agreements reached, Uzbekistan will supply about 450 megawatts of electricity to the neighboring country in winter.

The basis for the implementation of Uzbek electricity exports is its generation from Turkmen gas.
