The marble sculptures of the Parthenon will soon return to the Acropolis Museum from the British Museum, where they have been kept since 1802, thus resolving the three-century dispute between Great Britain and Greece, Bloomberg reports.

The exhibits, which were taken out by the British ambassador to Greece in the XIX century, were a bone of contention between the two largest museums. As it became known, the parties whose dispute has acquired an intergovernmental character will soon reach an appropriate agreement.

Under the terms of the deal, the British Museum will remove a plaster copy of the famous exhibits, and the transfer itself will be carried out for several years. In return, other exhibits will actually be leased to London. According to the source, the final agreement is accompanied by heated discussions.

We are talking about the transfer of the elements of the temple on the Acropolis (V century BC), which were removed with the permission of the government of the Ottoman Empire. As a result, about 50% of all the decorations of the ancient temple ended up on British soil.
