Head of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Fatih Donmez, said that the project to create an energy center in his country for the supply of natural gas to Europe is planned to be implemented within a year. This was reported by TASS with reference to the TRT channel.

“Our goal is to create a center that can satisfy [needs of] the buyer and the seller, as well as reliably operate in this [gas] market. We plan to create such a market within a year. Perhaps in the transition period until a stable market is established, we will start with a limited market,” Donmez said.

According to him, in the light of the decisions taken at the December summit of the presidents of the three countries in the city of Turkmenbashi, the heads of the energy ministries of Turkey, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will soon discuss the project of supplies to Europe.

“The working group will discuss all possible alternatives as soon as possible. Then we - the three ministers - will meet and evaluate them, after which we will pass the report with all the details to our leaders, who will finally consider it," Donmez said.

Following the December 14 summit in Turkmenbashi, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan instructed the head of the Ministry of Energy to work out the issue of exporting Turkmen natural gas to Europe within a month.

He also said that this issue could be finally resolved during the planned January visit to Turkey by the President of Turkmenistan.
