In his New Year's address, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that in 2023, humanity needs peace more than ever.

Peace with each other through dialogue to end conflicts; peace with nature and climate to build a more sustainable future, the Secretary General said.

"Every New Year is a moment of rebirth. Time is preparing for a bright day, " said Antonio Guterres.

The Secretary General wished prosperity to families and homes, and called for an Internet free of hate speech and insults.

"Let's put peace at the heart of our words and actions," he urged.

Earlier, the UN General Assembly on the proposal of Turkmenistan declared 2023 the international year of "Dialogue as a guarantee of peace", by adopting a relevant resolution. This document is also aimed at supporting international efforts to de-escalate conflicts and create favorable conditions for their transfer to the negotiation channel.
