What multi-sport events Turkmen athletes to take part in to be held in 2023
Turkmen athletes spent a busy 2022, winning various medals and awards at large-scale international championships and tournaments.
The coming year promises to be no less interesting. The participation of the Turkmen national teams in a number of multi-sport events of the regional and global level is planned.
Among them are the World Beach Games, to be held in early August in Bali (Indonesia). The second ever World Beach Games were supposed to take place in 2021, but were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first games were held in 2019 in Qatar. Then 36 competitions were held in 13 sports. Spain took first place in the medal standings.
A month later, on September 8, the Summer Asian Games will start in Hangzhou (PRC). More than 10,000 athletes are expected to compete for medals in 40 sports.
The 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be held from 17 to 26 November 2023 in two cities of Thailand - Bangkok and Chonburi. The competition program will feature 32 disciplines and two sports in demonstration format.
The previous Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games were held in September 2017 in Ashgabat. As a result of the tournament, the Turkmen team led the team medal standings.
The People's Republic of China will host the Sixth Asian Beach Games in 19 sports. About 2,000 athletes from more than 40 countries will take part in the competition.
The capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Riyadh - received the right to host the World Martial Arts Games in 2023, which will be held from October 21 to 30, 2023. The tournament will include 15 types of combat sports and martial arts.
