The round table meeting was preceded by an introductory tour of the Institute of International Relations, during which the guests were told about the life, study and leisure of students, about the conditions created for the effective work of teachers.
The main topic of the round table on bilateral relations was discussed in political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian aspects, and was also built around the role played by Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia in strengthening international peace and sustainable development.
The peoples of Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia had contacts in the distant past. But the exact date of the beginning of official diplomatic relations between independent Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is February 22, 1992. It was on that day that the relevant Communiqué was signed.
The participants of the round table noted that cultural, spiritual, religious and other traditions were the basis of contacts between the two peoples. But with the acquisition of independence by Turkmenistan, traditionally fraternal relations between our countries received a powerful new impetus.
The Kingdom was among the first states that recognized the independence of Turkmenistan and established diplomatic relations with it, a little later, an embassy of Saudi Arabia was opened in Ashgabat.
Both countries and their peoples are bound by ties of friendship and brotherhood, which are strengthened and developed year by year on the basis of trust, respect and mutually beneficial cooperation.
A huge role in the development of interstate dialogue was also played by personal friendly relations linking the leaders of both states.
The Middle East and Turkmenistan are indeed getting closer in the new multipolar world, where countries with common spiritual values and similar positions in international affairs are attracted to each other. While some states are looking for allies in confrontation with other systems, we are looking for friends to build a better life for all.
