A new hotel under the Mercure brand will appear in the Uzbek city of Khiva, one of the most important centers of the Great Silk Road. It will be built by the largest international hotel operator Accor, which includes hotels marked "by Mercure" — these are independent facilities that provide a guaranteed and high level of service, Uzbek news agencies write.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2025. It is located in close proximity to the monument of cultural heritage - the old town of Ichan-Kala, spread over an area of 22 hectares. There are 2 royal palaces, 27 madrassas, a large Juma mosque, many small mosques, minarets, mausoleums, a market, caravanserais, hammams, administrative and residential buildings. Travelers can climb the city walls at the north gate and enjoy the stunning view.

It will be very easy to get to the Mercure – the hotel is located a 30-minute drive from Urgench Airport and a 10-minute walk from the train station.

"The advantages of the new hotel will perfectly complement the true beauty of the ancient East, embodied in this unique oasis city: comfort, chic, elegance, adherence to traditions. We are sure that the guests of the Mercure in Khiva will be very impressed by the new hotel and its surroundings," said Accor New East Europe CEO Alexis Delaroff.
