From January 2023, China will resume providing services for applying for visas, temporary residence permits and residence permits for foreign citizens, the Xinhua news agency reports.

Among the resumed services are the issuance of port visas, visa–free transit within 24/72/144 hours and the issuance of temporary entry permits.

Easing in the migration policy is introduced in connection with the abolition of certain covid restrictions.

It is reported that the procedure for accepting and reviewing applications from Chinese citizens for obtaining passports for foreign travel will also be resumed.

China will also begin issuing permits to residents of the Celestial Empire to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for tourist and business purposes, to enter and leave the PRC, as well as to issue passes for entry and exit from the country's border zones.
