Checkmate: Higher league of Turkmenistan
Ashgabat hosts the Chess Championship of Turkmenistan of the Higher League among men and women.
16 strongest boys and girls take part in the championship, with total number of 32 participants from all over the country.
From the morning sportsmen stiffen over a magic marking of the chessboard. All this is in order to get to the basic structure of the national team of Turkmenistan from the Higher League.
Present competitions are held by the Ministry of Sports and the Youth Policy of Turkmenistan. The majority of participants are young chess players from the specialized school of chess and draughts of Ashgabat city.
The goals and tasks of similar tournaments are to reveal the most skilled sportsmen, capable to represent the country at the international competitions.
From August 10 to August 25 in Ashgabat starts the city chess championship among schoolboys from 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 years.
For October of the current year the trip of young chess players to the World Olympic Games in chess to Turkey is planned. 4 boys and a girl will represent Turkmenistan there.
