The Taliban announced the completion of the development of the Trans-Afghan railway project

The Taliban government has announced the completion of the $5 billion Trans-Afghan Railway project, Tolo News reported, citing the Afghan Railway Authority.
The project is reportedly designed to link South Asia with Central Asia via Afghanistan, and work on identifying routes has been completed. According to the agency, negotiations with Uzbekistan and Pakistan to launch the project are currently underway. They added that they are waiting for financial support from international organizations.
“In the current situation, the government cannot provide funding for the project. As I said earlier, the first steps that do not require much funding, such as satellite imagery and visual surveys, can be taken, but after that, the relevant organizations can provide funding to the project and invest in it,” head of the Afghan Railway Authority Bakht Rahman Sharafat said.
