Turkmen specialists got acquainted with the social protection system of Finland


Members of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Implementation of Turkmenistan's international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law visited Finland to get acquainted with the social protection system of this European country, according to a press release from the UNDP representative office in Turkmenistan.
During the visit, the Turkmen delegation held meetings with representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Social Welfare and Health of Finland, various specialized centers and institutes, as well as members of public organizations.

Turkmen specialists were introduced to the process of preparing national reports on the implementation of UN conventions in the field of human rights, the implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), as well as recommendations on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
Colleagues from Finland also shared the principles of their policy of ensuring and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in the country, information about international activities in the field of ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, where public organizations actively participate.

During the trip, Turkmen specialists got acquainted with the practice of providing medical services to persons with disabilities in Finland. They also received information about new trends in the development of social policy.
The visit was organized within the framework of the project of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan and UNDP "Assistance in the implementation of the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights for 2021-2025", with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the UNDP Representative Office in the Nordic countries.
The Turkmen delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, as well as the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan.
