UNICEF promotes the improvement of the system of social services in Turkmenistan


A series of training sessions on the basics of social work for newly hired social workers and specialists of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan has started in Ashgabat, the ORIENT correspondent reports.
The training program was created by the Institute of Social Activity and Practice of Bulgaria as part of a joint program of the United Nations and the Government of Turkmenistan to improve the social protection system by introducing high-quality social services at the local level.

The joint program is aimed at reforming the system of providing social services in the country and provides for strengthening the potential of social personnel through a series of trainings.
The trainings are conducted by UNICEF in order to familiarize with the basic concept of social work and social services, ethical standards of social work, as well as professional competencies of a social work specialist.
During the course, which will last until December 23, participants will master the development of an individual assistance plan, as well as conducting the first interview with the wards. The second part of the training sessions will be held next year — from January 9 to 13.
