This was stated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a message to the parliament and the people of the country, Uza.uz reports.

"For the first time, we will begin work on extracting gas from deep layers (more than 6 km) by introducing new technologies," the head of state said.

For this purpose, a 10-year exploration program will be adopted in the country. In particular, large foreign investors will be attracted to the Ustyurt plateau for exploration in deep layers.

Also at the meeting of the legislative chamber of the Oliy of Majlis, the state budget of Uzbekistan for 2023 was considered. As the Minister of Finance of the Republic Timur Ishmetov reported, the government will allocate 50% of the budget to the social sphere.

Thus, according to forecasts, state budget expenditures in 2023 will amount to 257.7 trillion soums, of which 130 trillion will be allocated to the social sphere. Significant funds are planned to be allocated for social protection and support of low-income families.

The healthcare sector in Uzbekistan will receive over 28 trillion soums — for the costs of improving cancer care, vaccination of 905 thousand children, measures for the medical protection of the population and the fight against COVID-19.
