The Japanese government intends to attract more foreign workers from Central Asia, in part through a "special skilled worker program" that allows foreign nationals to take on manual labor jobs. Japan news writes about it on Sunday.

Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa is expected to announce the policy during a meeting of the foreign ministers of Japan and the five Central Asian countries in Tokyo on December 24, the newspaper writes.

According to the source, Hayashi will say that Japan will contribute to the sustainable development of Central Asia with an emphasis on “investments in people” and “growth quality”.

In 2019, Japan signed a memorandum of cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of human resources and intends to discuss the possibility of concluding similar documents with four other countries of the region.

During a meeting on Saturday, Hayashi will also announce that Japan is ready to promote the diversification of export markets of the five countries of the Central Asia and cooperate in the development of decarbonization technologies, the Japan News report said.
