Seamless path: a through tariff discount is introduced on the eastern route of the North-South ITC


The Russian Railways (RZD) holding, together with the railways of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, will establish uniform reduced rates for the transportation of containers along the eastern route of the North-South corridor for 2023, TASS reports on Monday with reference to the press service of RZD.
JSC Russian Railways, together with the railways of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, has decided to establish reduced uniform container-kilometer rates for the use of the infrastructure of the eastern route of the ITC North-South for 2023, the holding reports.
The eastern route of the ITC "North-South" is the railway connection Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran. On November 28, Russian Railways launched a regular container train on the eastern line, while it will run once a month. The train is in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan to the Serakhs station in Turkmenistan. There containers are reloaded from the 1520 mm gauge to the 1435 mm gauge. And then the cargo goes through the territory of Iran to the port of Bandar Abbas, and then by sea to its destinations.
In the coming year, cargo will be transported along this route at a through reduced rate.
