A million liters of water from a huge aquarium flooded a Berlin hotel and a street

The world's largest cylindrical AquaDom aquarium, located in the Dom Aquaree Hotel in Berlin, burst, resulting in one million liters of water spilling out of it. This is reported by the world media with reference to the statement of the hotel administration.
The structure with a height of 16 meters and a diameter of 11.5 meters contained 1 million liters of seawater. The aquarium was inhabited by about 1.5 thousand rare tropical fish that died due to the accident.

The weight of the cylindrical aquarium was 2 thousand tons. Inside it was an elevator that lifted visitors, opening a 360-degree view. As a result of the incident, two people were injured by shrapnel.
Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse, on which the DomAquaree complex itself stands, was flooded and had to be closed. In addition to the hotel, several shops, bars and the GDR museum, which were also located in this complex, were damaged by the crashed aquarium.
The cause of the incident has not yet been established. According to one version, the aquarium cracked and then burst due to a decrease in air temperature. According to another version, the reason is a technical malfunction of the aquarium itself.
