The WKF Asian Karate Championship among adult athletes, as well as cadets, juniors and athletes under 21 began on Friday, December 16, in the capital of Uzbekistan - Tashkent.

More than 700 athletes from 28 countries will take part in the championship. The national team of Turkmenistan is represented by 24 athletes. Together with them, seven members of the judging went to the championship. Turkmen arbitrators intend to attend training seminars and pass exams to achieve the level of international qualification.

It is worth noting that for the first time in history, the program of the Asian Championship includes the category of para-karate - for people with disabilities.

The Asian Karate Championship will last until December 20. The previous championship took place last year in Kazakhstan. According to the results of the tournament, the team standings were then headed by representatives of Iran - 39 medals. The hosts of the competition became the second, Kazakhstan has 32 awards. The three leaders of the standings were closed by the founders of karate, the Japanese took home 10 medals.
