On December 18, asteroid 2022 XC1 will approach the earth


Asteroid 2022 XC1 will fly at a distance of 3.19 million km from Earth at a speed of 7 km per second on the night of December 18-19 at 01:09 Ashgabat time. The asteroid approach is reported by the website in-space.ru .
The celestial body was first discovered by scientists less than a week ago – on December 11. It belongs to the Apollo group and does not pose any danger to the planet Earth. Based on the calculations of astronomers, the size of the asteroid reaches 36 meters.
The next "meeting" of the asteroid with our planet will take place on June 12, 2024. On this day, it will fly at a distance of approximately 6.19 million kilometers.
Also on December 15, a large Asteroid 2015 RN35, which is 170 m in diameter, flew at a short distance from Earth. People could observe it in the sky with the naked eye.
