Foreign Ministers of Japan and Central Asian countries to meet in Tokyo


The meeting of foreign ministers in the "Central Asia + Japan" format will be held in Tokyo on December 24. It will be the ninth in a row and will be held at the Iikura House under the chairmanship of Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa. This was reported in a press release from the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
The chief diplomats of Japan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan will discuss issues of sustainable development in the region, consider the situation in Afghanistan and other topics on the international agenda.
Japan has been preparing for this meeting long enough and hopes that this meeting will chart the way to a concrete partnership in all areas of mutual interest.
Within the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan also plans to hold bilateral negotiations with colleagues from the Central Asian states. The last time the Foreign Ministers met was in May 2019 in Tajikistan.
