President of Turkmenistan sees the success of the Commonwealth in strengthening the role of diplomacy
“The intensification of political and diplomatic cooperation in the CIS space will help to increase the level of mutual trust between the countries of the Commonwealth,” said the Turkmen leader, speaking at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State held in Sochi today.
According to the Turkmen leader, for this it is necessary to use the potential of the Commonwealth's foreign affairs agencies and practice such meetings as regular inter-MFA consultations.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also said that it is necessary to raise the level of cooperation within the framework of major international organizations such as the UN and the OSCE by combining the efforts of the Commonwealth countries to achieve the goals on the global agenda.
According to the Head of Turkmenistan, the ministries of foreign affairs of the CIS countries need to develop a program of action to strengthen partnership in the political and diplomatic area.
Another key factor is called economic cooperation, which will help the Commonwealth realize its enormous potential in world economic relations as a territory that holds the most important transport, logistics and energy nodes.
In order to develop economic ties within the framework of the Commonwealth and bring them to the continental and intercontinental level, it will be necessary to develop new approaches and forms of cooperation.
Thus, according to President Berdimuhamedov, the Commonwealth, in the context of globalization and regionalization of international relations, can strengthen its role in the world economy, politics and geopolitics due to closer and better coordinated interaction in the CIS format, more trusting relations within this association and more specific economic and diplomatic partnership.
