Turkmenistan invests more than $83 million through UNICEF in the national immunization program


Mohammad Fayazi, Head of the Representative Office of the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan, noted the country's high contribution to the implementation of various programs of the organization, noting that the Turkmen side invests more than $83 million through UNICEF in immunization of the population.
He said this in a comment to the Neutral Turkmenistannewspaper on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Turkmen neutrality.
The head of UNICEF in Turkmenistan also said that thanks to the efforts of the government, the country currently has the highest immunization rates in Central Asia, having overcome polio in 2002 and malaria in 2010.
Thanks to effective cooperation, the health care system has been strengthened, the rates of stunting of children have decreased, the rates of exclusive breastfeeding have increased fivefold, which is the highest indicator not only in the region, but also in Europe.
In addition, Mohammad Fayazi said that at the moment 94% of all maternity hospitals in Turkmenistan have a Baby-Friendly certificate.
