FAO promotes the reduction of food waste in Turkmenistan in production and trade

Turkmenistan intends to reduce the amount of food waste in production and trade together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the organization's subregional coordinator for Central Asia Viorel Gutu said, Trend reports.
"One of the projects is aimed at reducing losses and spoilage of food products (LSFP), both at the national and regional levels through the implementation of policies, strategies and investment programs, sharing knowledge about ways to reduce losses in production and retail trade and raising awareness among consumers," Gutu said.
He also noted that at the moment the main work carried out in Turkmenistan is based on a survey of participants in supply chains and observations, as well as an analysis of national legislation on the prevention and management of LSFP.
