The first meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission of Turkmenistan and Russia will be held in April 2023

The first meeting of the interparliamentary commission of Turkmenistan and Russia will be held in April 2023 in Moscow and Astrakhan. This was announced by Konstantin Kosachev, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, who visited Ashgabat on a working visit, TASS reports.
Kosachev noted that the commission's regulations have now been fully agreed upon, which defines its competence, the range of issues to be discussed and all organizational parameters. "In particular, we have agreed that we will hold a meeting of our commission twice a year – alternately in Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. This is the maximum possible level of regularity of contacts," the Russian vice speaker explained.
According to him, the commission will take under parliamentary control issues on economic cooperation. "It will be necessary to improve the regulatory framework in force in both countries. In some cases, it may be necessary to prepare separate intergovernmental agreements with subsequent ratification. We will be involved in all these issues," Konstantin Kosachev said.
The Commission was established in November 2022 during the visit to Moscow of the Chairman of the upper house of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Following the meeting with the Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko, an agreement was signed "On the establishment of an inter-parliamentary commission".
The second meeting will be held in September next year in Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi," the Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council said.
