CIS countries identified in Kazan promising areas of cooperation in UNESCO

The CIS member states discussed at inter-MFA consultations the issues of interaction within the framework of UNESCO the preservation of world cultural and natural heritage sites. The CIS member states discussed at inter-MFA consultations the issues of interaction within the framework of UNESCO the preservation of world cultural and natural heritage sites. The meeting was held on Tuesday in Kazan on the sidelines of the International Forum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention. This is stated in the widespread message of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by the executive secretaries of the national commissions for UNESCO and employees of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee.

Promising directions for further cooperation between the CIS member states in UNESCO were considered and the most important issues on the agenda of universal intergovernmental cooperation in the humanitarian sphere were discussed. It was about the interaction between the National Commissions for UNESCO, the coordination of the activities of the CIS countries on this international platform, as well as the depoliticization of UNESCO.

The next inter-MFA consultations were agreed to hold in Minsk in the third quarter of 2023.
