Serdar Berdimuhamedov awarded the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament with an order


President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
During the meeting, the head of state and his guest exchanged views on the bilateral, regional and international agenda, on which both countries have similar positions. Fruitful interaction was also noted in such formats as the UN, the CIS, the Organization of Turkic States, the Non-Aligned Movement, etc.
In a conversation with the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that the realization of the huge potential that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have, including natural resources, economic and transport opportunities, is in the interests of not only the peoples of the two countries, but the entire region.
Great importance in the further development of this multifaceted cooperation is given to inter-parliamentary dialogue, which complements interstate contacts and strengthens the legislative basis for interaction. The activation of parliamentary diplomacy between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will undoubtedly serve to deepen relations between the two countries and use its reserves.
On the same day, the President of Turkmenistan signed a decree on awarding Sahiba Gafarova, Chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the Order of Turkmenistan "For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation."
The order was presented by Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty - the House of Representatives of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart.
The meeting was held at the Oguzkent Hotel, where a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan was also signed.
During her visit to Ashgabat, Sahiba Gafarova also met with head of the Mejlis - the chamber of deputies of the legislative body of Turkmenistan - Gulshat Mammedova, and after that she spoke to the deputies.
Gafarova noted that this was her first visit to Ashgabat and emphasized the commonality of the Turkmen and Azerbaijani peoples, who have a common history, culture, language, and religion. Azerbaijan fully supports the policy of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, which has made it possible to achieve great success, the speaker added.
